Panjapur Integrated Bus Terminus Inaugurated in Trichy

Trichy, May 9, 2025 – Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the newly built Integrated Bus Terminus (IBT) at Panjapur, a ₹246 crore project aimed at easing congestion in the city’s older bus stands. Spread across 40 acres, the modern facility includes 401 bus bays, digital amenities, and passenger-friendly features like elevators and accessible toilets.

The two-level structure is designed to manage over 3,000 buses daily, with city and long-distance services operating on separate floors. CM Stalin also launched a truck terminal, laid the foundation for a vegetable market, and issued housing site pattas to over 55,000 beneficiaries during the event.

This marks a major step forward in Trichy’s transport infrastructure and urban development.

Laid the foundation stone for a wholesale vegetable market complex
Distributed housing site pattas to approximately 55,000 beneficiaries in Trichy East, Trichy West, Srirangam, and Thiruverumbur taluks

A Modern Transit Hub for Trichy

Spanning 40 acres, the IBT was constructed at a cost of ₹246 crore. It is designed to handle approximately 3,200 buses daily, significantly easing congestion at the previously overburdened Central and Chathiram bus stands. The facility features:

401 bus bays, including:
141 for long-distance services
120 for mofussil buses
84 for short-trip buses
56 for city buses
12 elevators for passenger convenience
Comprehensive amenities, including:
81 toilets for women 52 for men
2 for transgender individuals
4 accessible toilets for persons with disabilities
173 urinals and 21 bathrooms
Designated parking spaces for autorickshaws, enhancing last-mile connectivity

The terminus is fully air-conditioned, with city buses operating from the first level and mofussil buses from the ground level
